<br />
After an amazing weekend in London seeing The Rolling Stones a couple of weeks ago I wanted to share with you where we stayed. Since I rely on hotel reviews when I go stay somewhere I knew I had to write about this fabulous find.<br />
<br />
We stayed in <span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><a href="http://www.lasuitewest.com/" target="_blank">La Suite West</a>, a minimalist, modern hotel designed by British designer Anouska Hempel. <span style="line-height: 19px;"> The hotel takes inspiration from an Eastern aesthetic, with it's limited colour pallet, clean, sharp lines and dark corridors and rooms the hotel feels tranquil and chic. The fact that Jimmy Hendrix stayed in the old Hyde Park Towers Hotel for a while in the 60's in which time he wrote 'Stone Free' make the hotel that little bit cooler.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="line-height: 19px;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="line-height: 19px;">The location is fab for a London visit, it was brilliant for us as it was only a short walk from Hyde Park. Bayswater tube station is literally 30 seconds away, I actually walked past the hotel thinking it was further away! </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="line-height: 19px;">We stayed in an Inverness suite, which consisted of a small dining/kitchenette area, sofa, 4 poster bed and an impressive marble, under floor heated bathroom, it also looked out on to Inverness terrace and it's beautiful row of townhouses. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="line-height: 19px;">The room was a great size for a weekend in London, enough room to move around or dance to some Rolling Stones songs on the ipod dock and comfy enough to relax on the sofa or the incredibly plush bed. I'd include photographs, but in all honesty what you see in the Hotel's own photos is what you get, which is definitely something that doesn't happen often when seeing a hotel in the flesh! We ordered wine on two occasions and I have to say, both times room service was the quickest I've ever experienced. The same went for when I requested an ironing board and milk from housekeeping, which was a nice pleasant change, in my experience room service is usually a lengthy wait!</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="line-height: 19px;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="line-height: 19px;">I'm a self-confessed hotel snob, I like to stay somewhere beautiful, luxurious and clean, it's a guilty pleasure of mine and I often scour the internet for hours if not days looking to book somewhere. <a href="http://www.lasuitewest.com/" target="_blank">La Suite West</a> was perfect, I loved every minute of my stay, and a particular plus was the complimentary chocolates on arrival, they were so incredibly tasty, I'd love to know where they came from!</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="line-height: 19px;">If you're ever looking for somewhere new to stay in London I'd definitely recommend you to check this hotel out!</span></span>Vicky 25-36http://www.blogger.com/profile/16746531044526834113noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6542459239571524135.post-55569650564683947772013-02-15T05:32:00.001-08:002013-02-15T05:33:25.345-08:00NEXT Home Luxury Candle<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I recently made an amazing discovery, Next Home candles! They smell beautiful, fill the whole room and last hours and all for £9. I usually stick to Jo Malone and Yankee Candles and I find them to be the best candles that I've tried, so when i started to burn the Next London candle I was pleasantly surprised. They're all named after major cities (Paris, London, Milan, New York) and come with a range of other products like a parfume and reed diffusers.<br />
<br />
London has top notes of lychee and citrus, a heart of peony and rose and a base of musk and cedarwood. The next ones on my list to try at Milan and New York!<br />
<br />
Have you tried these?Vicky 25-36http://www.blogger.com/profile/16746531044526834113noreply@blogger.com17tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6542459239571524135.post-16077766127730878912013-02-10T11:02:00.001-08:002013-02-10T11:02:51.222-08:00NYFW backstage beauty<span style="background-color: white; color: #444444; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', HelveticaNeue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19px;"><br /></span>

<br />I've had these products a while now, for two reasons, I don't wash my hair multiple times a week (there's not a great way of saying that without sounding like a scruff, but I assure you I'm not) and I like to compose a good review on products.<br />
<br />
The video above shows an easy way with a few tricks on how to create a fishtail plait, I love a fishtail braid and I don't believe they're just for the summer, so I gave this tutorial a go, the bobble trick really helps. I love using a fishtail plait to create a textured, soft wave in my hair by keeping it in over night of for a few hours and then letting my hair loose. <br />
<br />
I've been using the John Frieda Enhancing* range for blondes, now my hair isn't all blonde these days, my natural colour at the top is a dark blonde/medium brown then it blends down into a warm dark blonde and finally into my bleached end. So there's a few colours going on in my hair so I wasn't sure this would work for me, but I've found the shampoo and conditioner not only clean my hair thoroughly and add moisture, but they also give my hair an amazing shine when I've washed it. Just a little bit of background on my hair, I don't really have problematic hair, in fact with not washing it everyday and avoiding heat a lot of the time it's grown a lot and is pretty strong these days, so I don't find myself needing anything massively moisturising or effective for my hair. The enhancing range work by amplifying golden shine in your hair, creating a brighter, shinier colour, something I've found is hard to come by when being blonde.<br />
I also have the Spun Gold Shape and Shine balm, this is a soft waxy balm that has gold particles that create extra shine in your hair. I remember my mam having this years ago and I used to love it, so now I've got one of my own it's even better. I like my hair to be full with texture, but nothing too heavy, the balm separates and adds texture without feeling crispy, heavy or tacky and you only need the tiniest bit meaning it'll last forever.<br />
<br />
I really enjoy these products and I believe they work really well, so when I run out I might try the Go Blonder shampoo and conditioner next to maybe lift my colour without the use of dye. The product in the video that gives fresh volume to hair also looks amazing and is right up my street. <br />
<br />
*I was sent samples of these to try. This does not effect my opinion of the product. I'm so busy at the moment with uni work and doing things in my spare time for my makeup portfolio, blogging is not a top priority, but I do still find myself wanting to come back to it, sometimes.<br />
<br />
I recently got some images back from a shoot I worked on a few months ago with a photographer called <a href="http://tlsphoto.co.uk/" target="_blank">Terri-Lee Shield</a>, so I thought I'd post a video and some photos of what I've been up to. I might do this more often, especially with a new shoot coming up in a couple of weeks that I'm really excited for, and my own photography work combined with my own makeup also.<br />

I thought I'd do a quick post about <a href="http://www.myunidays.com/r/ALH1sLHcXx0" target="_blank">UNiDAYS</a>, this great student discount site I came across when ordering something from Miss Guided. In all my student years (and theres a fair few!) I've never been one to buy an NUS card because I always got my discount when producing my student library card, but when it comes to shopping online it's always been a pain. Trying to use a friends NUS card for ASOS or TOPSHOP never seemed to work so I'd feel a bit begrudged to buy something. So when I came across this site I was pretty chuffed (that's happy if that doesn't translate to areas outside of the North East).<br />
All you need to do is sign up, select your insitution and then it takes you to your university/college website to login, this is how they verify that you're a student, and that's it, you're now free to discounts from loads of great places and more are added by the week.<br />
<br />
I haven't been asked to write this post, I just thought it was such a great idea and wanted to give other students a heads up.Vicky 25-36http://www.blogger.com/profile/16746531044526834113noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6542459239571524135.post-51217189533324694652012-08-10T03:48:00.001-07:002012-08-10T03:48:38.010-07:00Urban Outfitters Autumn/Winter 2012/13<br />

It's hard to think that autumn/winter 2012/13 collections are on their way or are already here when we don't seem to have had a summer yet. Personally, I prefer an Autumn/Winter collection to a Spring/Summer, I'm partial to layering, autumn burnt colours and a bit of knitwear, but for those who aren't, A/W 2012/13 isn't too heavy at all this year, in fact if we ever get a taste of summer weather any time soon I think A/W collections this year would still be very fitting with gypsy and bohemia inspiration being a forefront to the collection.</div>
<div>
<br />
<div>
Urban Outfitters introduce two new collections 'A Modern Beat' think masculine meets feminine, mod style parkas, drainpipe jeans, slim fit and shirts tucked in. Then there's 'Tarot' a mixture of gypsy, bohemia and witchcraft, kind of paints a picture doesn't it? Think texture, lace and tapestry, layers and a lot of mystical and precious stone clad jewellery. Each collection has it's own style, but with colour palettes like khaki, grey, hot coral, burgundy and the always popular denim piece dotted about the collections mix beautifully. A/W makeup trends this year such as Roman-tique, a bohemia, electric and global influenced trend with sepia stains, texture, jewel-like metallics and a contemporary defused rethink on a smokey eye and the masculine trends where contour and structure is everything, where it's all about natural makeup with that hard, strong edge are very fitting to these Urban Outfitters collections. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I was shown around the Newcastle store while Rachel told me about the collections, I've been in shopping a few times but it was great to find out that they're displaying art work from Northumbria University students/graduates which is where I study. You'll also find art work by <a href="http://www.prefab77.co.uk/">Prefab 77</a>, a collective of artists from the North East who's work is raw, British and rebellious, a perfect fit for the interior of Urban Outfitters. Newcastle has the usual mix of Urban Outfitters own brand along with some amazing such as Vaudeville & Burlesq<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">ue, Cheap Monday and Evil Twin, as well as their well known renewal selection of vintage and reworked pieces. It was great to find out the girl in charge of Newcastle's renewal selection is very particular and only puts out the best quality, so if you're in the area have a rummage!</span><br />

<br />
I'd been waiting for <a href="http://www.ljbeautystudio.co.uk/">LJ's Beauty Studio</a> to open for a while, curious as to what the lashes would be like, so when it launched Laura kindly sent me this pack of <a href="http://www.ljbeautystudio.co.uk/ThinkFlirty/p1388534_6354160.aspx">'flirty'</a> lashes. Sets of lashes come with 10 pairs and are priced at £6.50 which when you think one pair in Boots can set you back that much it's definitely worth it. I'm normally used to very thin, clear bands and usually stay clear of the thicker ones thinking they'll not look so great, but they actually still look really nice on, quite dramatic-naturalesque. Before applying them the lashes need bending gently and to give them some extra flexibility and curve is a must but they go on and stick (with the help of DUO) perfectly. I smudged some MAC Coffee eye pencil into the lash line just to give extra definition and base colour for the lashes to go against. The 'flirty' style is beautiful, soft yet full and really flattering, these would be perfect with a soft or heavy eye makeup.<br />

I think I was feeling sorry for myself after hurting my foot and not being able to attend the event. So I bought a cream pigment in Hollow, a medium pencil in Fidelity and the #1 blending brush. I've wanted to try out the medium pencils for a while now and I'm so glad I got one, they're so easy and quick to apply. They blend so easily, are buildable and last really well. These are totally kit worthy, I'd love to try a few more and create a whole eye look purely with these. Such a good tool if you want a quick defined eye. I'm now a massive fan of these pencils. The blending brush is also equally amazing and goes hand in hand with the medium pencil, they work perfectly together, creating soft blown out eyes. </div><div><br /></div><div>I bought Hollow cream pigment as I heard it was a great contour colour. It is just that, but if you're looking to use this as contour I would say to be careful and not to over load as it is quite a cool shade and can turn a tad mucky with too much product. Other than that it blends with ease, even over powder which doesn't always happen with cream products, a great contour for cooler paler complexions when you find some bronzers to be a little too warm. </div><div><br /></div><div>The picture above shows Hollow cream pigment next to Fidelity medium pencil blended and unblended. </div><div><br /></div><div>What do you love from Illamasqua? </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Vicky 25-36http://www.blogger.com/profile/16746531044526834113noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6542459239571524135.post-54635035758116703192012-04-08T02:06:00.004-07:002012-04-08T02:43:40.087-07:00Wired Jewellery<div><center><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7079/6908449696_a1d2150a1c_z.jpg" /></center></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7231/6908449430_3e07815638_z.jpg" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span">1. my grandads old ring. 2. </span><span class="Apple-style-span"><a href="http://www.wiredjewellery.co.uk/">Wired Jewellery</a> 3. blue stone ring present from parents. 4. <a href="http://www.jwlry.bigcartel.com/">jwlry</a> 5. thumb ring from market</span></div><div><br /></div><div>I'd been searching online for ages for above knuckle rings but to no avail, then a couple of weeks ago I saw a photo that <a href="http://www.saraluxe.com/">Sara</a> had posted of some amazing jewellery with above knuckle rings, and so thats how I found <a href="http://www.wiredjewellery.co.uk/">Wired Jewellery</a>. The shop is filled with some amazing stuff, but I tried very hard not to go wild and just got myself a ring. I'm sure there will be future purchases of <b>a lot</b> more. I've seen a lot of jewellery shops pop up, a lot of them with the same things as others, but this one stood out with it's quirky handmade designs, stunning stones and real silver (which is a massive plus, I hate jewellery that tarnishes). </div><div><br /></div><div>The ring came well packaged with simple but beautiful little details, like the paper cut hearts and embossed lettering, I think it makes all the difference when you get an interesting and pretty parcel. I got a medium size which is supposed to be a UK size F, it's the perfect size, fits a couple of fingers and feels secure on the lower part of my finger. I've been wearing it for a few weeks now and theres been no tarnishing, the quality is amazing and I feel like Phoebe Buffay. </div><div><br /></div><div><a href="http://www.wiredjewellery.co.uk/">Wired Jewellery</a> are also having a flash sale this easter weekend. Aside from feeling sadness, anger and denial, a woman may also change her lifestyle completely. Those who once cared about beauty and fashion may begin to wear pajamas or tracksuits and opt out of wearing makeup both during and after their cancer treatments.<br /><br />Whether a woman is dealing with a diagnosis of mesothelioma cancer that has been caused by asbestos exposure or a diagnosis of breast cancer that runs in her family, it is important for her to try to remain a sense of normalcy. Despite a woman’s circumstances it is important to always be aware of the reality of cancer. Sadly, cancer doesn’t discriminate and once this is realized fashion forwardness can shine through.<br /><br />First and foremost, fashion can be a great way to maintain a sense of normalcy. If a woman typically wore jeans and a sweater everyday, she should continue to do so. This will help her to feel more like herself than if she were to wear pajamas for example.<br /><br />In addition, experimenting with new types of fashion can also help a woman with or without cancer feel more vibrant. Visiting a department store and asking a sales associate to help find the latest fashions to flatter skin tone and figure are a great place to start.<br /><br />Accessorizing is also a great way for a woman to feel even more beautiful. Earrings that draw attention to her contoured cheekbones, bracelets that bring awareness to cancer and hats that help her cope with hair loss are also fantastic ways for a cancer patient to feel more beautiful.<br /><br />Makeup can also be a huge part of fashion. A woman with a cancer diagnosis should continue her makeup regime in order to continue to look and feel her very best. She may also want to consult with makeup artists to help her to brighten up her face, which may appear tired from various rounds of treatment. A new shade of blush or a new tube of mascara can sometimes work wonders for a woman's self esteem.<br /><br />Most importantly, women should try not to view themselves as victims but rather as victors. Try to keep the mindsets that controlling thoughts and maintaining as much normalcy as possible are the best ways to handle a diagnosis. Taking the steps to feel beautiful in her own skin is just one simple way that she can help herself on to the road to recovery. No matter what the future holds it is always important to look and feel beautiful because true beauty comes from the inside and nothing can change that!</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br /></span></div><div style="font-weight: bold; "><br /></div></span>Vicky 25-36http://www.blogger.com/profile/16746531044526834113noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6542459239571524135.post-81583493605690445962012-01-25T05:20:00.001-08:002012-01-25T05:30:59.551-08:00Urban Outfitters Newcastle<center><a href='http://www.flickr.com/photos/7795688@N08/6760036355/'><img src='http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7004/6760036355_3df5d38a2a_b.jpg' border='0' width='560' height='418' style='margin:5px'></a><br /><a href='http://www.flickr.com/photos/7795688@N08/6760036671/'><img src='http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7006/6760036671_7ed20bcd4a_b.jpg' border='0' width='560' height='418' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />Urban Outfitters finally graced the city of Newcastle with its presence and opened a lovely 3 storey store on Granger street. It's one of their largest stores, and boy is it big. When I saw the little 'coming soon' boxed up entrance months ago, where I think Kurt Geiger used to live, I thought it was going to be tiny and didn't see how they'd fit everything in there, so felt my excitement deflate a little. Until I walked through the door on a particularly horrible December afternoon and was pretty amazed at the vast size of the place. <br /><br />In true Urban Outfitters style there's a little mezzanine floor between staircases filled with goods. This is where I picked up a vinyl wall frame (obviously minus the original 1960s album inside) for my boyfriend, perfect little present. The next floor was equipped with a great wall of shoes, tables filled with jewellery and little trinkets and the walls and rails clad with a lotta lotta clothes for the ladies, upstairs you have men's but I wasn't too interested in that and spent most of a good hour going around so many clothes and lovely bits and bobs dotted all over the shop. There's a great section of vintage finds which is where I picked up my 'Christmas jumper'. To the back of the women's floor theres a section thats slightly cornered off with sofas, mirrors and filled with unique beautiful clothes and just outside of that you'll find the most random and amazing products for gifts and the home. <br />I only picked up a few things that day, which is probably a good thing because I had a pretty Urban Outfitters themed Christmas, with presents from family and the boyfriend being from Aztec makeup bags and fringe clutch bags to analog camera necklaces and penguin fingerless gloves. <br /><br />Seeing how busy the shop is when I've visited it and the shopping bags on the streets, I think Newcastle is now a little bit happier with the arrival of UO. <br /><br /><center><a href='http://www.flickr.com/photos/7795688@N08/6760065113/'><img src='http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7156/6760065113_d5ece6b1a5_b.jpg' border='0' width='560' height='315' style='margin:5px'></a><a href='http://www.flickr.com/photos/7795688@N08/6760065523/'><img src='http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7007/6760065523_db5287c2b6_b.jpg' border='0' width='560' height='315' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />Posted using BlogPress from my iPhoneVicky 25-36http://www.blogger.com/profile/16746531044526834113noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6542459239571524135.post-36089057032355319392012-01-24T10:16:00.001-08:002012-01-24T10:45:26.332-08:00Sleek brow kit<br /><br /><center><a href='http://www.flickr.com/photos/7795688@N08/6756106947/'><img src='http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7141/6756106947_a7a9aace9f_b.jpg' border='0' width='560' height='396' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br /><br />Not gonna lie, I've not posted for almost a century. However, my constant love for this product has urged me to spill my thoughts to you lot.<br /><br />I believe in good brows, I'd rather walk out the house with a good set of brows than mascara. A brow (well two brows) can do so much for the face, they give structure around the eye, they give definition to the face over all and they can soften a sharp face or give angles to a rounded face. I love eyebrows me.<br /><br />This little kit, made me put down a beloved eyebrow pencil, that is only now picked up when I have to wear it for work. The waxy cream is smooth and creates sharp perfected lines. The powder helps set the waxy/cream and gives a full look to the brows. I sometimes use both or just the powder, both work great on their own. Even the brushes, usually something I'd throw straight in the bin are pretty damn good. A little faffy due to the tiny size of them, but do their job just fine. There's even a little set of tweezers to banish pesky strays. I use the light kit, perfect for a medium blonde to brown hair, you'd have to be very light handed of you were very fair and didn't want your brows too dark.<br /><br />Overall 10/10 for this little beauty. It's really impressed me and I'd recommend it to anyone.<br /><br />- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone<br /><br />Vicky 25-36http://www.blogger.com/profile/16746531044526834113noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6542459239571524135.post-79116893353326039732011-10-17T14:54:00.001-07:002011-10-17T15:14:11.792-07:00Illamasqua Freak<div><center><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6108/6254996437_be41cbc0ec.jpg" /></center></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>"Teased by the sweet pungent tang of opium". An extract from Theatre of the Nameless instantly made me think of Freak. From first smelling it I loved the scent, strong, deep & with a touch of sweetness. I'd say if you enjoy Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille you may also love this. I'd save it for the night, but cold winter days seem appropriate as well. At first & well still now, I can't quite explain the scent, it's probably one of the most distinguished perfumes I've tried. Not just for the scent, but for the feelings when wearing or smelling it, Freak has a personality. </div><div><br /></div><div> </div><div>I could copy & paste the details about the fragrance, but I think that'd take away the fun & personality away from it. That & the ingredients, to me, are a foreign knowledge, but it does make me think old worldy & all things mysterious & magical. So I direct you <a href="http://www.illamasqua.com/freak/about/">here</a>. Go read! </div><div><br /></div><div>It's released on the 20th October & will retail at £59 for 75ml for Eau De Parfum, nothing less, no eau de toilettes here thanks. </div>Vicky 25-36http://www.blogger.com/profile/16746531044526834113noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6542459239571524135.post-26855314393654895362011-10-16T05:35:00.001-07:002011-10-16T05:59:16.383-07:00Glossybox<div><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6100/6249222631_8e1906f168_z.jpg" /></div><div><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6038/6249222635_a8f73eed70_z.jpg" /></div><div><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6105/6249222641_4f8fbd64fd_z.jpg" /></div><div><br /></div>Be it late, very late at that, I finally have the time to compose a post on my first <a href="http://www.glossybox.co.uk/">glossybox </a>. When I received this I was off to London Fashion Week & as soon as I got back from those hectic 7 days I was thrown straight into university. So forgive me for being the crappest blogger of all, better late than never, right? <div><br /></div><div>Firsty, as a bit of a design freak I love all the care that has gone into little details, even the delivery box is appealing. Always a good start with me, win me over with design. Unfortunately, the postman/lady may have been a bit careless with my box as my hd brows palette managed to crumble a bit & spread it's way around my box. However, getting past that, I enjoyed the range of products, from hair care to moisturiser, it was a nice selection.</div><div><br /></div><div> I was happy to see a sample of the Moa green balm, it's something I've been meaning to try, it seemed to save my cuticle disgraced hands & chapped lips, so very happy with that one.</div><div><br /></div><div>The HD brow set colour is way too dark for myself, but I can see it being a very useful palette, the product applies nicely & seems to be of good quality, what puts it down a bit is the packaging, it reminds me of cheap cosmetic gift sets, know the ones I mean? That's always a turn off for me to be honest. </div><div><br /></div><div>The Green People Day Solution hydrating balancing day cream, has a strong natural smell to it, not the most appealing smell but you know you're putting something good, organic & non-synthetic on your skin. Need to test this a little more.</div><div><br /></div><div> Plum by Mary Greenwell, not my favourite kind of scent, but always nice to get testers something new, it's not going to please everyone as fragrance is a very personal thing, a little too mature for my liking. </div><div><br /></div><div>Rahua shampoo & conditioner made my hair feel great, I still have another sample left, saving it for when I need my have to be looking somewhat good! </div><div><br /></div><div>I'm looking forward to getting my October glossybox & seeing what's in store for this month. </div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(95, 87, 79); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); "><h1 class="fn" style="outline-style: none; outline-width: initial; outline-color: initial; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 3px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; border-bottom-width: 1px; border-bottom-style: solid; border-bottom-color: rgb(228, 224, 214); color: rgb(144, 28, 88); font-size: 1.6em; "><br /></h1></span>Vicky 25-36http://www.blogger.com/profile/16746531044526834113noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6542459239571524135.post-52819959469913999652011-09-07T11:46:00.000-07:002011-09-07T12:02:56.329-07:00Lily Loves Lola purchases<center><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6071/6124247385_fb566b7611_z.jpg" /><div><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6193/6124247639_63f99dae40_z.jpg" /></div><div><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6082/6124792842_60b9e2fcd6_z.jpg" /></div><div><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6065/6124247887_664b097b32_z.jpg" /></div><div></div></center><div><br /></div><div>I came home today to my <a href="http://lilyloveslola.bigcartel.com/">Lily loves Lola</a> order. Victoria has just recently launched her own shop of chunky knitwear & sweet friendship bracelets. I usually look at a shop & save it for possible later purchasing but with it being £1.75 for a bracelet I couldn't help myself & bought a few things. I really love these, not only are they ridiculously good value but they'd be nice little somethings to add to gifts. I love a collection of bracelets so these aren't going to any of my friends at the minute, but that could be another future cheeky purchase, the scarfs look amazing too.</div>Vicky 25-36http://www.blogger.com/profile/16746531044526834113noreply@blogger.com25tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6542459239571524135.post-10586706421792493742011-09-01T12:28:00.000-07:002011-09-01T13:17:41.739-07:00Lights Out, Words Gone<center><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6209/6104109822_d9ac59619c_z.jpg" /><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6079/6104081928_b8d4e0e77c_z.jpg" /><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6191/6104087842_3c903e72a5_z.jpg" /></center><div>
<br /></div><div>My tattoo seems to have almost fully healed, it's still a little tender, but then when my skin has been scratched to death with a needle I think it's safe to say it will remain a little sensitive for a while. The pain was bearable, which was surprising as I was completely bricking it hours before I went to get it done. Must just be dead hard, of course. I had drawn up my own design but upon sorting positioning & all that shizz, Ian (tattooist) at Inkslingers drew it up freehand anyway. After hours & hours looking for feathers I liked the look of, I was quite surprised how easily I handed over my arm for him to just draw away permanently into my skin. I'm a dreaded decision maker & complete control freak for perfection, but all senses must have been lost when I let him do his own thing, that or I felt at complete ease & trusted him. I think it's the later to be honest, if you're in the Newcastle area I'd definitely recommend him, he was sound & his personal work is top notch! </div><div>
<br /></div><div>I had a 'meeting' with uni yesterday, they called it a meeting, I was calling it a meeting, but upon arriving it was very much an <i>interview</i>. A bloody awful interview. I was expecting a one on one friendly chat about why I wanted to change course, a little about myself & showing a few bits & bobs of my work. However, I was greeted by two tutors, a lot of questions & judging looks. Meeting my arse. Nerves hit & words failed me, answers to their questions made no sense & generally sounded like gibberish. They queried how I'd feel about a lot of written work, now this doesn't scare me, I was an English freak at school, but no doubt they felt the need to ask the question when within the first 5 minutes the words 'oh what's that word, I can't remember it but it's.....oh, err' came out of my sodding mouth. I was supposed to get an email yesterday, I didn't, hopefully they just forgot, but I did get one today asking for proof of my qualifications to be emailed through to process my application, so I hope that's good news & I didn't come across like a complete tit. </div><div>

<br /></center><center style="text-align: left;">I'm finding it quite hard to pack light for Leeds fest. I started off with a smaller toiletry bag but couldn't fit everything in, it's still a bit of a squeeze in the bigger one. They're all essentials, I've gone through the list trying to eliminate but nothing can be thrown away, how are 19 items essential?! My makeup bag is another long list of items, some may not be essential, like reflects glitter for example, but that's a product we can let slip. My bag is going to be so heavy! My god. </center><center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center><center style="text-align: left;">The hardest decision is working out outfits. I'm not one to make a massive effort & look like a tit walking around in a muddy field, but I like to know when I'm awkwardly getting dressed in a tent with no mirrors that I know the whole ensemble meshes well & I'm not actually left looking like I did get dressed in a tent with no mirrors & no sense of awareness. After my lash extensions later today (reasons for lash extensions for a festival - less time getting ready...of course!) I'll probably try scope something or other to wear since my wardrobe isn't shouting out to me right now. </center><center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center><center style="text-align: left;">I got my tattoo on Thursday at Inkslingers in Newcastle, it's still slightly tender but the detail is coming out nicely. Absolutely love it. However, I keep catching it in the mirror thinking I've just being drawing tattoos on my arm with a Penultimate liner, the reality of finally having an actual tattoo hasn't caught up on me yet. </center><center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center><center style="text-align: left;">Is anyone else heading to Leeds/Reading festivals? </center>Vicky 25-36http://www.blogger.com/profile/16746531044526834113noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6542459239571524135.post-3281945010204200082011-08-11T11:10:00.000-07:002011-08-11T15:19:52.601-07:00Sporadic Summary<div style="text-align: center;">

<br /></div><div>Excuse the photobooth picture, the lights not too great & I need to order a wireless remote for my DSLR, self timer just doesn't cut it. Running back & forth, no thanks! Although it could help with my diet of hell to lose weight, currently at 14.5lbs, so going well, I just need to see the results myself. Why is it you can never tell as much on yourself, it'd spur me on more if I could! Proof that the lack of tasty food is working!</div><div>
<br /></div><div>I've finally decided on my first tattoo & am going to finally get it done on Monday, it's only taken me 8 months, but definitely is the perfect combination of images I wanted. So come Monday after my freelance (dying for a lie in) I'll be going to Hype in town with my bezza to get inked, cannot wait. </div><div>
<br /></div><div>Still haven't heard anything back from the uni about transferring courses to BA (Hons) Contemporary Photographic Practice. I'm kind of bricking it, it's cutting it short for applying for funds & what if I don't get granted an extra year of funds, I'll be totally screwed & left working full time for another year. fml. Fingers crossed it all sorts out asap! Has anyone else applied for finances really late, did they turn up relatively on time or majorly late?</div><div>
<br /></div><div>The new blog domain isn't going too bad, I prefer it a lot more, although my traffic has completely dropped but there are a few new followers, so hi to you! :)</div>

Reason for this is due to my pure stupidity of forgetting to renew it, I'd had emails reminding me, but when it passed the date of expiry & the domain still worked I assumed it'd automatically renewed. It hadn't, oops. I've wanted to change names for a long time now anyway, so here it is... 25-36.</div><div style="text-align: left;">I probably will lose some readers if they're unaware of this change, it's inevitable, but if you have any links on your blog I'd really appreciate it if you could update them to my new url & even maybe spread the word on twitter as my tweets could always miss some readers. Hopefully blogging will be more regular & a variety of posts. Change is good, hope so anyway! </div>Vicky 25-36http://www.blogger.com/profile/16746531044526834113noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6542459239571524135.post-87263798865604407892011-08-02T12:27:00.000-07:002011-08-02T14:00:07.538-07:00Festival Shananagans Wishlist<div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6126/6003004938_224888915d_z.jpg" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span">all above: <a href="http://www.missguided.co.uk/">missguided</a></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span"><a href="http://www.missguided.co.uk/p5838/Vanushka-Vintage-Look-Frayed-Denim-Hotpants/product_info.html">1</a> <a href="http://www.missguided.co.uk/Clothing-Tops-View-All/c87_4_115/p4546/Ava-Denim-Loose-Fit-Shirt/product_info.html">2</a> <a href="http://www.missguided.co.uk/S/S-Trends-Sophisticated-70's/c54_162/p4519/Taniya-Crochet-Vest-Tunic-Dress-in-Stone/product_info.html">3</a><a href="http://www.missguided.co.uk/S/S-Trends-Festival-Fever/c54_66/p5245/Zuzana-Ditsy-Flower-Print-Belted-Shirt-Dress/product_info.html"> 4</a> <a href="http://www.missguided.co.uk/p5813/Cristina-3/4-Sleeve-Lace-Pleat-Dress-In-Burnt-Orange/product_info.html">5</a> <a href="http://www.missguided.co.uk/Festival-Fever/c66/p4774/Layle-Bodycon-Stripe-Dress-In-White-And-Navy/product_info.html">6</a> <a href="http://www.missguided.co.uk/Clothing-Knitwear/c87_5/p6282/Riley-Cable-Knit-Grandad-Style-Cardigan-In-Brown/product_info.html">7</a></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6005/6002665887_3e2b078d90_z.jpg" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span">all above: <a href="http://www.boohoo.com/">Boohoo</a></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span"><a href="http://www.boohoo.com/day-tops/olivia-oriental-kimono/invt/azz74155">1</a> <a href="http://www.boohoo.com/new-in/lucy-oriental-border-print-shift-dress/invt/azz72967">2</a></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Over the past few days I've been compiling a wishlist of Leeds fest outfits. I have my tickets, Hunters are at the ready & I have the option (dilemma) of wearing my Grandad's wax Barber. Needless to say I'm getting very excited, I'm almost counting down the days. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">I just recently came across <a href="http://www.missguided.co.uk/">missguided</a> which is pretty slow of me, but it's pretty bloody good, my wishlist got a little out of hand at one point. All of which are completely on trend for SS11 as well as AW11. It's ideal for day use & completely usable for a dramatic night look. The colour pay off is as per usual with the sleek palettes - surprisingly brilliant for such a low price. It retails at £6.49 & honestly you really can't go wrong, it's probably the most versatile, beautiful palette of colours that will all get used at one time or another. Definitely worth a drop in the shopping basket. <div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Vicky 25-36http://www.blogger.com/profile/16746531044526834113noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6542459239571524135.post-18373830948075407062011-07-28T05:22:00.000-07:002011-07-28T08:45:03.423-07:00Sudocrem tube<center><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6123/5984510190_3bf0ff9d62_z.jpg" /><div><br /></div><div></div></center><div>In my adult life I've not used sudocrem as a staple, but I'm not going to lie, I have been caught with it dotted on my face during my years at uni, but I was never an avid user. This could be due to the massive, slightly less travel sized pot we have at home. But since being sent samples of the tube I've carried one with me when staying over & one by my bedside at home & have definitely come to realise the benefits of this cream. </div><div><br /></div><div>I suffer from eczema, it's especially worse in the summer due to the heat, so putting a light layer of Sudocrem on my skin before bed has eased the itch & saved my legs being mauled by my scratching in my sleep. It also helped sooth my underarms when I had the bright idea to veet them, not the best thing I've done, it burned my skin & hurt for days, Sudocrem soothed it really well. I don't believe the Cheryl Cole claims that it'll get rid of a spot over night, but I do believe it helps soothe & protect skin really well. & for such a low price for a handy tube that you can take anywhere with you, it's definitely one of my must haves now. </div><div><br /></div><div>Sudocrem also have this bagology app on facebook that determines your personality & traits from your bag, not sure how accurate it is but if you're intrigued & want to have a go head over to<a href="http://www.facebook.com/sudocremtube"> </a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial; font-size: small; "><a href="http://www.facebook.com/sudocremtube">www.facebook.com/sudocremtube</a> </span></div>Vicky 25-36http://www.blogger.com/profile/16746531044526834113noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6542459239571524135.post-1108055495644417942011-06-15T10:23:00.000-07:002011-06-15T10:34:34.542-07:00Sleek Mediterranean Collection<center><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5118/5836266125_9b15ed06f4_z.jpg" /><br /><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3294/5836266571_ae1b6f2f26_z.jpg" /></center><br /><br />I'm going to come clean, I've never owned a Sleek palette. I'd seen the hype, I was tempted but I never really bothered, after all I have palettes full of colours & draws full of pigments. That & I've always been a bit of a makeup snob. Bite me. I will however, eat all my words as the pigmentation in these products are incredible. In fact as I type I struggle to get an eyeshadow swatch off my hand.<br /><br />The collection is inspired by vivid colours of the Mediterranean, very on trend with pop colours for S/S11. There's also a nice mix of neutrals in there, I've been reaching for the orange tones to create a colourful eye but still soft & wearable. I have to say Santorini blush scared me a little, being a make-up artist that sounds incredibly pathetic but I'm not a fan of a strong blue pink, but again I'll eat my words & say this, if applied properly (blend people!), it looks beautiful.<br /><br />Monaco i-Devine palette: £6.49<br />Santorini Blush: £4.29.<br />(You know where to find these by now!
